Technical brief
Octopus F190

Exclusively configured for use 'inland' such as within ports and harbours, rivers, canals and other waterways, applications include dredging, shipping channel and berth surveys, construction monitoring and harbour security. With subscription* to a satellite-broadcast differential correction service, the F190 achieves 20cm positional accuracy in most situations without any additional hardware. The added benefits of the F190's short term inertial navigation capability gives added immunity to GPS drop-outs when travelling under obstructions such as bridges and cranes and other obstructions.

*Satellite-broadcast differential correction subscription services

  • The Octopus F190 is currently configured to receive satellite differential correction broadcasts from Fugro's OmniSTARTM system, and requires an additional subscription for this service.
  • Subscriptions to OmniSTARTM must be purchased direct from Fugro.
  • OmniSTARTM is only available for use on land or inland waterways and excludes some major inland lakes. Service performance deteriorates sharply offshore.
  • For all potential coastal applications, including ports and harbours, users should contact Fugro OmniSTAR to check the limits of operation in their specific location.
  • Further details of restrictions and limitations can be found in the terms and conditions of the OmniSTARTM subscription agreement.
  • OmniSTAR is a trademark of Fugro NV.
